Telestream has acquired the Encoding.com cloud-based media processing platform used by streaming services and broadcasters around the world.
Financial details of the deal were not announced.
The Encoding.com team will be integrated into Telestream and, as part of the acquisition, Gregg Heil, Founder and CEO, and Jeff Malkin, President, will assume leadership roles in Telestream’s cloud initiatives.
“In Encoding.com’s 13-year history, the company has generated significant video supply chains for major streaming platforms, content distributors, and web-based VoD platforms,” Dan said. Castles, CEO of Telestream.
“Being cloud-native from its inception, the technology fits perfectly into Telestream’s strategic direction to provide our customers with the ultimate flexibility to meet their most demanding workflow needs in cloud, on-premises or hybrids. This acquisition, combined with Telestream’s 25 years of continuous innovation in media workflows, cements our leadership position across the entire cloud-based VoD media processing ecosystem.
“Telestream has a great track record of making strategic acquisitions that truly benefit their customers and unite teams in a single mission to bring the best possible solutions to market,” Heil added. “The combined engineering organizations will enable the acceleration of new features and services to support the continued migration to the cloud by enterprises seeking the benefits of parallel processing, elasticity, and scale offered by cloud infrastructure. “
The latest acquisition follows a busy 2021 for Telestream, when it acquired Masstech; ContentAgent content authoring workflow application; and Sherpa Digital Media.
