“We recognize that it is long overdue for us to have an audible voice with considerable impact in the emerging policy debates in Washington regarding computerized resources and digital currency,” a spokesperson for the group told Protocol.
Binance.US said it would organize its advocacy “to engage in immediate and productive dialogue with US politicians.”
The Blockchain Association, which has more than 80 member companies, explained in a statement: “I hope everything goes well for Binance. As it establishes its karma in Washington, the United States remembers karma.
The organization’s resignation signaled an unexpected turn for the Blockchain Association, which has played a critical supportive role for crypto as the company comes under government scrutiny.
Some time ago, Coinbase, another crypto giant to be reckoned with, left the Blockchain Association when the meeting accepted Binance.US as a member. Binance, a competitor to Coinbase, has been a dubious player in the crypto space. The company has been repeatedly reprimanded for flouting regulations and failing to put in place an appropriate number of checks to prevent tax evasion.

Binance is a digital currency exchange that is the largest in the world in terms of daily trading volume of cryptographic forms of money. It was founded in 2017 and is registered in the Cayman Islands.
Changpeng Zhao, a developer who had just produced high recurrence exchange programming, founded Binance. Binance was once headquartered in China, but eventually moved its headquarters to the United States in response to increasing Chinese government directives on digital currency.
Binance was investigated by the United States Department of Justice and the Internal Revenue Service in 2021 on suspicion of illicit tax evasion and expense violations. The UK Financial Conduct Authority has instructed Binance to cease all UK-directed activity by June 2021.
